Please Vote For Water Line Extension On Town Meeting Day by Fred Humphrey PDF Print E-mail

On Tuesday, March 6, Town Meeting Day, Guilford voters will vote on the bond issue regarding the extension of the new water line in Algiers. I urge you to vote in support of it.

I write this as a private citizen who has been deeply involved with both the Friends Of Algiers Village Inc and in my role as the Secretary of the Guilford Volunteer Fire Department.
The water line will be installed no matter the vote count is  but it is the lines' extensions that we will be voting on.
These are very important for a minimum of two reasons relating to the safety of our residents.

First, one proposed line will be extended to the Guilford Community Church which is the location of Guilford's Emergency Shelter. It is here where residents who are forced out of their homes by floods, electricity supply failures, etc. can be temporarily fed, sleep, and meet their families. The Church's driven well is not adequate to handle a significant number of such refugees.

Secondly, a second proposed line will reach the Fire Station and allow the building to have sprinkler's installed, protecting both the building and the emergency vehicles located there. In addition, it will permit the tanker and the pumpers to have their water tanks replenished under safe conditions.

I would be happy to answer any questions about this. My telephone is 257-7306 and my email address is This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Thank you for considering this very important issue.
